More Than 50 China-based PMP Companies Use DVi Designs with Hitachi
Small-Form-Factor Hard Drives

HONG KONG, Sept. 7, 2006 - Digital Vision, Inc. (DVi) and Hitachi Global Storage Technologies (Hitachi) today announced that their collaboration has resulted in the most widely accepted hard-drive-based personal media player (PMP) designs among manufacturers in China. More than fifty China-based PMP companies have chosen the DVi/Hitachi PMP designs for style, functionality, storage capacity and ease of integration.
These leading brands include Aigo, DEC, Enec, Init, Malata, Mele, Newman, PIF, TCL and Yes.

DVi and Hitachi bring together an unmatched skill set, which has resulted in some of China's most popular PMP designs. Hitachi offers leadership in small-form-factor hard drives, which are tailored for consumer devices. In addition, the hard-drive integration expertise of the Hitachi Design Studios*, based in Shenzhen, has contributed to the efficacy and speed with which the PMP designs can be brought to market. To complement Hitachi, DVi calls upon its expertise in supplying turnkey solutions and major components for the digital video and audio markets for consumer electronics. Hitachi PMP Hard Drives
Hitachi offers a comprehensive portfolio of small-form-factor hard drives that have been used in many PMP designs from DVi. Hitachi's small-form-factor portfolio is made up of the following products:

  • Microdrive 3K6 & 3K8 one-inch hard drive - offers 6 and 8 gigabytes (GB) in a miniature package for the smallest PMP designs;
  • Travelstar 1.8-inch "Slim" - the most popular hard drive for PMPs due to an ideal combination of high storage capacity and compact size. Slim offers an upper capacity of 30 and 60 GB of storage on the one- and two-disk model, respectively.
